TKI's search is available from the top of every page allowing you to refine TKI-wide searches by key educational criteria, quickly find materials on a specific community, and find information about any school in New Zealand.

To filter your search results, click to expand one of the criteria types to the left of the page and select one of the available options. This will filter your results down to items that match your chosen criteria.
Applied filters appear at the top left of your search results, and can be removed by clicking their [x] links.

Searching individual communities
You need javascript enabled to view this content.TKI is made up of a number of specialised individual communities. When you are on an individual community the TKI search will assume that you want to quickly locate materials only within that community. Search results from within that single community will appear in a dropdown, keeping you on your present page.
You can still search the whole of TKI at any time, from any community, by selecting the All of TKI checkbox before searching.

TKI School search
You need javascript enabled to view this content.The TKI school search allows you to search for a New Zealand school by its name, location, Ministry of Education number, and other criteria. It is available in the TKI Bar under Schools.
School search results can be refined by various criteria - select criteria from the options to the left of the search results. Applied refinements appear at the top left of your search results, and can be removed by clicking their [x] links.
Details for each school can be viewed by clicking the Show more information link beneath each result.
You can also browse for schools visually by region and district - just click on the map of New Zealand to the right of the main 'School search' page.

How do I remove refinements from a search?
Applied refinements to your search results appear at the top right of the search results view. They can be removed by clicking their [x] links.
What is a metadata record?
Metadata is information that describes a resource. TKI metadata records contain a range of information about a specific educational resource, like its format, audience, level and learning area, etc. Metadata records allow us to create services like the TKI search result refinements.
My search results contain materials from outside of TKI - how does this happen?
The complete TKI search index contains materials from within the TKI communities, digistore, offline Ministry of Education resources, and a wider collection of external quality-assured resources.
What do the symbols mean in the search results?
The small symbols next to a search result's title highlight aspects of the resource. The New Zealand icon signals a New Zealand resource, a small Ministry of Education logo that the resource was commissioned by the Ministry of Education, etc.
In most web browsers, you can find out what a symbol means by hovering your mouse over it. After a second the symbol's meaning should be displayed.
How do I search a single TKI community?
By default, searching from the TKI bar while on an individual community will search only materials within that community. (To search everything, select the Search all of TKI checkbox).
So to search within a single TKI community, navigate to that community before conducting a TKI search.
My search results only seem to be for a specific TKI community. How do I search the whole of TKI?
By default, searching from the TKI bar while on an individual TKI community will return results only from within that community. These 'local' results will appear in a drop-down over your current page.
To search the whole of TKI, select the Search all of TKI checkbox on the TKI bar.
What is a 'School number'?
A 'School number' or 'MoE Institution number' is a unique identifier assigned to a school by the Ministry of Education. It is the most direct way to locate a specific school in the TKI school search.
