"Safety and EOTC"
This new publication is a great resource for alternative education providers.
It contains helpful advice and usable formats for planning, risk management
and policy formulation. All alternative education providers are encouraged to
use this as a basis for planning their outdoor programmes. Every school in New
Zealand has been issued a copy, and it can also be downloaded from the Te Kete
Ipurangi website at http://www.tki.org.nz/e/community/eotc/

Asdan
Find out about the activity-based curriculum enrichment programmes offered by
the non-profit making organisation ASDAN Educational. There are programmes that
support mainstream and the de-motivated or disaffected student, and ones that
have been specifically designed to cater for students with more profound and
multiple learning needs. Contact Carolyn Baines on 06 8777403 email: cbaines@xtra.co.nz
ACE Consumer Resource
Check out this online educational resource, formerly Consumer Kids, designed by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs for levels 3 and 4 social studies. ACE Consumer is a tool for teachers to teach, and students to learn, how to be ‘active’, ‘critical’ and ‘enquiring’ consumers in the classroom and onwards into real life. Inside are introductions and instructions, classroom activities to download and print, and an online student section for students to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom. http://www.consumeraffairs.govt.nz/education/
