Digistore - Te Pātaka Matihiko
Check out the new Digistore website with it's great range of functions and features. This is a storehouse of digital content to support learning across the curriculum, from early childhood through to senior secondary. Learning Languages with ICTs
Look at how teachers and schools in New Zealand are using information communication technologies (ICTs) to improve student language learning outcomes. The activities have been selected to represent exemplars of e-learning practice in a variety of year 7–10 settings and across a range of languages.

Teacher Professional Development Languages (TPDL) Years 7-10 (PDF 376KB)
Over 150 teachers have completed this Ministry of Education funded programme to support schools to cater effectively for Learning Languages.
For 2010 the number of places has been increased to include 60 for teachers of Chinese, French, German, Japanese or Spanish plus a further 20 for teachers of Samoan and Cook Islands Māori.(Other Pasifika languages will be catered for over the next two years.)
Language study, pedagogy and In-school Support are the three components of TPDL. All teachers of languages, regardless of their teaching or language learning experience, are catered for.
Auckland UniServices of the University of Auckland is contracted to deliver this programme nationally. Principals or teachers should contact the project director Wendy Thomson w.thomson@auckland.ac.nz as soon as possible to ensure a place. Schools are encouraged to register more than one teacher.

Regional facilitators have been contracted by the Ministry of Education to support
teachers and schools offering language programmes.
The New Zealand Association
of Language Teachers (NZALT)
NZALT is a professional association for over 500 teachers of languages (other
than English or Māori) from the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors.
Their website includes access to conference details and white papers, information
about professional development awards, a news page, and links to the specialist
international language associations and advisers within New Zealand.

Materials to support Korean in the New Zealand Curriculum
Here is a great opportunity for schools to obtain cost-free materials to help
year 7 and 8 students learn Korean. Sugohaseyo! Stages 1 and 2 consist
of a Teachers' Book, a Student's Book, and an audio-cassette that complements
the written texts. The teacher needs to have a good knowledge of Korean. This
