e-Learning Teacher Fellowships 2009
Applications for the e-Learning Teacher Fellowships for 2009 are now open. Up to 10 classroom teachers and early childhood educators using e-learning in innovative ways will be selected. The theme for the projects in 2009 is literacy. Guidelines and the application forms are on the website. Applications are due 15 September 2008.

School Journal Teachers' Notes.

From this year School Journal Teachers' Notes will no longer be printed and distributed with each journal, but a selection will be available in an online format. One of the main teaching purposes of the notes is to support students in developing their comprehension strategies. See the introduction for more details.

User-contributed content icon. New category of websites: User-contributed content
In response to the changing nature of the Internet, TKI will now link to selected social software (Web 2.0) sites. Social software allows users to contribute content and to collaborate with others using blogs, wikis, and other tools. These sites will have the head and shoulders icon to show that they contain user-contributed content. While all sites are still subject to rigorous quality-assurance processes, teachers are advised to evaluate this category of sites carefully for relevance and accuracy, and to consider any privacy and security issues before using them with students.

Make use of this professional learning resource developed for teachers across the curriculum at all levels who work with bilingual Pasifika students in mainstream classrooms. The site includes research-based material for supporting language development, information on being bilingual, and a section about what helps students to learn.
