Māori in Mainstream – Te Tere Auraki

Te Tere Auraki – Māori in Mainstream
Te Tere Auraki (to 'navigate the mainstream river') represents the Ministry of Education's research and professional development strategy for teaching te reo Māori in mainstream schools. Find out about the four discrete but overlapping professional development strands that focus on improving teaching and learning for Māori students in mainstream schools: Te Kauhua Māori in Mainstream, Te Kotahitanga, Te Mana Kōrero, and Te Hiringa i te Mahara.

Ngā Taumatua
Ngā Taumatua is a literacy training programme in Māori medium education  to develop highly knowledgeable leaders in the sector. The project involves training twelve Resource Teachers of Māori and classroom teachers of immersion levels 1 and 2, across Aotearoa NZ,  in Māori medium literacy.  Research into Māori medium literacy is one of the course requirements. This research will help inform sector knowledge in effective literacy practice in Māori medium.
