There are links to over 2400 quality-assured materials in this community. Find them by using the menu bars and the quick search facility under the arrow on the right-hand side of the page. To go to the social studies community news page, select Social Studies from the navigation bar on the right. In the social sciences learning area there is one curriculum statement, Social Studies. Other specialist subjects base their programmes on their current syllabus: Economics, Geography, and History. Select their links for purchasing details.

The Film Archive. The Film Archive: On Disk Library for Secondary Schools
Check out the archived programmes now available in digital format through The New Zealand Film Archive. The geography, history, and social studies collections support NCEA prescriptions in these subjects, and there are disks for New Zealand topics of immigration, wars, women, youth, and New Zealand identity themes. The education package for each disk includes a teacher’s booklet, with online lesson plans being available for some. Borrowing the disks is free for New Zealand schools; orders can be made online from the site.

The Social Sciences Online website (SSOL) is currently under development and is expected to be available by the end of September 2009. The site is for all teachers of social sciences throughout New Zealand and will contain resources and links to websites for social studies, business studies, economics, geography, and history.
