Explore The New Zealand Curriculum online and link to a range of resources and support materials. The revised curriculum will become mandatory from Feb 2010. Schools are encouraged to begin working towards its implementation. Check out the new section Strategies for Getting Started, and add comments to share your expertise and experiences.

NCEA on TKI: Updates and changes to Physical Education internal resources
The resource PhysEd/1/4_A5 (Here's looking at you) has been removed.
PhysEd/3/5_F1, PhysEd/1/2 A6 and B6, PhysEd/2/1, PhysEd/2/4, PhysEd/3/6 have been updated on the Physical Education page and on the NCEA Just Up page.
The performance standards document for level 3 has been updated and now contains 134 pages of examples to support the assessment of achievement standard 90742 Phys/Ed/3/4.

Second NZ Community Circus Convention – Education
The second Community Circus Convention is to be held in Dargaville from 5–7 September 2008. The vision for this year is to promote the benefits of the circus arts in the development of young people. Circus arts can help develop physical dexterity, motor skills and increase self esteem, confidence, and interpersonal skills. There will be plenty of on-site entertainment including variety shows and much more besides.

Spirit of New Zealand voyage for youth with physical disabilities
Applications are now open for the 8–12 February 2009 voyage aboard the Spirit of New Zealand, Auckland–Auckland. Thirty 16–20 year-olds will be selected from all over New Zealand and supported on a 1:3 buddy system. Applications close 1 August 2008. Get2Go is an outdoor team adventure challenge for year 9–10 students and includes rock climbing, mountain biking, orienteering, and kayaking. The challenge runs in 13 regions throughout New Zealand. User-contributed content icon. New category of websites: User-contributed content
In response to the changing nature of the Internet, TKI will now link to selected social software (Web 2.0) sites. Social software allows users to contribute content and to collaborate with others using blogs, wikis, and other tools. These sites will have the head and shoulders icon to show that they contain user-contributed content. While all sites are still subject to rigorous quality-assurance processes, teachers are advised to evaluate this category of sites carefully for relevance and accuracy, and to consider any privacy and security issues before using them with students.

The Ministry of Education is still encouraging every school, wharekura, kura, kōhanga reo, and early childhood centre to visit the World Environment Day website and to share their plans to contribute to a sustainable future. TravelWise is a programme run by the Auckland Regional Transport Authority in partnership with Auckland Regional Council, Land Transport New Zealand, Ministry of Health, Roadsafe Auckland, and other Auckland city councils. TravelWise works with schools and communities to improve travel choices and make it safer and easier to consider travel options. The programme includes information on road safety, walking school buses, walking and cycling, and guidelines for schools and work places to implement safety programmes.
