Compass - Embracing the Enemy, 2005: 'They became our sons as well'
This clip, from a series that critically examines beliefs, ethics, and values, shows archival black-and-white photographs of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (Anzac) and Turkish soldiers in the Gallipoli campaign during the First World War, a war cemetery and a transport ship unloading soldiers. A narrator reads from Atatürk's famous tribute of 1934, and former New South Wales Turkish community leader Muzaffer Orel reflects on the compassionate quality of Atatürk's words. 'O Lāuga e Fā mai Aukilani
Item 97220. This stand-alone audio cassette demonstrates the art of lāuga, the ceremonial speech-making of fa'asāmoa. The Samoan curriculum document suggests that lāuga should be studied at every level from level 4 onwards. On each side of the tape there are two speeches by teenage speakers, recorded on location in Auckland.

Ko Taku Taha Rangatiratanga Ko Taku Reo Māori
Out of print. Item 92408. This audio cassette is a recording of a speech about the Māori language, which is included in "Te Tautoko 13" (item 91255). The treatment of the recording is simple, so the ear focuses mainly on the language. The speech won the Rawhiti Ihaka section of the Ngā Manu Kōrero speech competitions in 1989 and was originally written and presented by Ian Heketia Nepia.

Out of print. Item 96146. A collection of kōrero by the late Sir Kingi Matutaera Ihaka, originally broadcast on 'Te Reo o Te Pipiwharauroa' in 1975. He speaks about the Anglican Church and tells some humorous anecdotes. A collection of kōrero, suitable for more advanced learners of Māori.
