Career Planning
Career Services Pathfinder
The Pathfinders section of the Career Services website enables students to plan their future online. It requires students to register to complete an online questionnaire about themselves, explore career suggestions from Pathfinder, and plan their next steps. Along the way they can read articles on topics relevant to each stage of the career planning process. Pathfinder saves their progress so that they can come back anytime to continue.

Choices – Where it’s at
Choices is an interactive site which helps students to start thinking about future career possibilities. Includes links to other sites with details on further education, types of education, and career planning.

In-transit – Make a successful transition from school into work, training, or study
This website provides government agencies help, advice, and services designed to assist young people get into jobs, study, and training when they leave school. Includes information for career and job seekers, school leavers, skill seekers, study seekers, and related resources.
Learning and Career Plans
Learning and Career Plans (LCPs) are designed to support school students develop career management skills. LCPs are being trialled by Year 10 students through the Design Careers Pilot but could be adapted to suit other year groups. The Plan and professional notes in PDF or MS Word format are available for students and career educators in English and Te Reo.
Urge – Whakamanawa
Contributors to Urge include Ministries of Youth Affairs, Health and Education, Alcohol Advisory Council of New Zealand, Family Planning Association, New Zealand Law Society, Health Sponsorship Council and the Mental Health Foundation. The website is designed for young people and covers a range of issues including careers, employment, CVs, finding a job, further education, youth development, and an online directory of help services. This site should be used in the context of a supportive environment. Te Kete Ipurangi recommends that teachers view this website before using it with students.
What is the Career Kete?
The Career Kete is designed to support career education activities in secondary schools, with a focus on students who are developing a learning and career plan. The Career Kete is built on material adapted from Career Services resources, such as Plan-it, Take off to Tertiary, and Options Kit and Jobs by Interest. Includes information sheets, worksheets, and card sorts.

The Learning Shop
This website provides free information, advice and support on education and training opportunities in New Zealand. It is part of the Tertiary Education Strategy and has links to Gateway and Youth Transition Services.
Work and Income
This website provides information about the support and services available from Work and Income New Zealand including those available to people with disabilities. Work and Income New Zealand is a service of the Ministry of Social Development. Includes information on how to get a job, careers advice, financial assistance, information for employers, and links to related sites.
WorkSite
The New Zealand portal site, WorkSite, combines the resources of a number of government agencies to help people make decisions about work. It provides information about education and training, career advice and guidance, finding work, finding employees, and establishing and operating a business.

Careers and Transition Education Association (Aotearoa)
This association provides a resource network for careers and transition educators throughout New Zealand for the dissemination and exchange of ideas, courses, programmes, and information. CCS Disability Action
CCS in New Zealand is a national organisation which provides support and services to people with physical disabilities. The website provides information about the services and contact points throughout New Zealand.
Emerge Supported Employment Trust
Emerge Supported Employment Trust is a charitable organisation which provides a range of professional supported employment and transition services for people with disabilities in Wellington. Includes information about services for job seekers and employers, career advice and planning, transition programmes, initiatives, personal stories of students who have been through the transition process, news, events, and contact details.
Mainstream Supported Employment Programme
This page from the State Services Commission website provides information about the Mainstream Supported Employment Programme. It is a two-year subsidised employment programme for people with significant disabilities. The programme is provided by the State Services Commission and aims to assist participants into meaningful, long-term employment within selected state sector organisations. Workbridge
Workbridge – Mahiri provides a professional employment service for people with all types of disabilities and injuries no matter what the disability or skill level. A person may have a disability from birth or as a result of an illness or injury. The website includes information for employers, jobseekers, support funds, and other links.
Workwise
Workwise Employment Agency helps people with mental illness to choose, get, and keep jobs. They provide a service for jobseekers and support for employers, helping them to link the right supports together to ensure people keep their jobs. The site includes case studies.

Careers Education
Designing Careers Pilot
This Ministry of Education page has the evaluation of the Designing Careers Pilot – May 2006, part of the New Zealand government Youth Transistion Strategy aimed at assisting young people make more successful transistions from school to higher education, training, or work. This final report evaluates the implementation of the pilot and identifies the key features of effective delivery of whole-schools career education, planning, and reporting.
