"LEARNZ"
Producer: The Ministry of Education www.minedu.govt.nz
LEARNZ began 1995 – the name was originally an acronym for 'Linking Education with Antarctic Research in New Zealand' – when it was based at the Antarctic Centre in Christchurch. Since then it has gone from strength to strength.
As part of the Ministry of Education's Learning Experiences Outside the Classroom, LEARNZ provides students with the means to participate in a virtual field trip. Over a three week period, students travel virtually, experiencing events, talking with experts and engaging with the dynamic website on a daily basis.
In this segment we meet the project manager, Pete Sommeville and LEARNZ teacher Jo Dudley, who will talk about the latest programme of events. Joining them will be Joris de Bres of the Department of Conservation, who are supporting the LEARNZ 2002 programme.
