The new Arts Curriculum provides the springboard for a range of opportunities to learning through the arts.

Learning through the arts fosters the education of the imagination and supports the development of skills which can be key parts to the development of a knowledge society. These include the capacity to cope with ambiguity and uncertainty, to value complexity, to be creative, innovative, collaborative, and flexible.

In this item, the Ministry of Education's national co-ordinators for the arts discuss the new curriculum, including the Maori medium Nga Toi curriculum, and the new opportunities they offer.
