1952 Yvette Williams

Yvette Williams won gold at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics for the women's long
jump. Here she recounts how she qualified for the final, nearly missed out,
and then went on to win a gold medal.
1960 Peter Snell

Peter Snell won gold at the 1960 Rome Olympics for the 800m, and at the 1964
Tokyo Olympics in the men's 800m and 1500m. This is a commentary of his first
win, an interview with him where he describes his feelings about winning,
and the race itself.

In 1972 at Munich, the New Zealand rowing eight won gold. These recordings
are of the last stages of the race, and of the presentation ceremony where
"God Defend New Zealand" was played for the first time at an international
event. The crew was Tony Hurt, Wybo Veldman, Dick Joyce, John Hunter, Lindsay
Wilson, Athol Earle, Trevor Coker, Gary Robertson, and cox Simon Dickie.

John Walker won gold at the 1976 Montreal Olympics for the men's 1500m. This

1988 Bruce Kendall

Boardsailer Bruce Kendall won gold at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He describes
how it feels to go up onto the dais and hear the National Anthem played.
1988 Paul McDonald
and Ian Ferguson – canoe/kayak (MP3, 280kb)
Paul McDonald and Ian Ferguson won gold at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics for
K1 500m men's (Ian only), K2 500m men's, and K4 1000m men's flatwater races.
They also won gold at the 1988 Seoul Olympics for the K2 500m men's. This
is a commentary of the final stages of the race. Paul and Ian describe how
they came up with the effort to win, and how it felt afterwards.
1996 Danyon Loader

Danyon Loader won gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics for the men's 200m and
400m freestyle. Here we hear the final stages of the 200m race, Danyon's comments
on what he did to win the race, and the medal presentation.
