Here is a brief description of the databases available to schools through EPIC. Use the EPIC Power Search Options to search across multiple resources or use the filter below to find the most relevant databases for particular learning areas and year levels.

Academic OneFile (Gale Cengage)

Academic OneFile is the premier source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources. Includes full text coverage of the New York Times since 1995.

Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre (EBSCO)

The Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre gives access to abstracts and full-text articles from international, Australian, and New Zealand magazines and newspapers. It is an excellent resource for those requiring up-to-date world, Australian and New Zealand current events information. Includes full text of most major New Zealand daily newspapers searchable as far back as the 1990's.

Biography In Context (Gale Cengage)

This database contains an extensive range of contemporary and historical biographies of notable people including New Zealanders. It is searchable by name, nationality, and occupation. It is ideal for secondary students and teachers.

Books & Authors (Gale Cengage)

Covering adult, young adult, and children's fiction and non-fiction, this excellent database helps students, teachers and school librarians identify new books to read. Searching is by author, title, subject, genre, character, and topic. It contains an extensive selection of award winning books, thousands of plot summaries, and promotions for upcoming titles. Suitable for primary and secondary schools.

Encyclopaedia Britannica School combines accurate information with easy searching and coverage enriched by selected websites, multimedia, and magazine sources.

MasterFILE Complete (EBSCO)

MasterFILE Complete provides full text access to the largest collection of the most popular magazines, journals, and other highly-regarded resources, including: Time Magazine, Newsweek, and New Scientist.
