Eligibility for Funding
Who is eligible for funding?
- Permanent Residents, children of people on work permits,
refugees (in all categories) and New Zealand born NESB students (with at
least one migrant parent/caregiver) with fewer than four years education
in New Zealand.
- Students not in ESOL programmes but receiving funding (i.e. those
in mainstream classes) should have funding targeted towards them in
some way (See suggestions in Section D).
- NESB students need support in the mainstream beyond the period
of entitlement to funding.
