Synopsis of episode 2, Being Popular
- Eve finds her younger brother, Caleb, has applied instant tan in an attempt to fit in with his Māori friend, Jason. She counsels him to just be himself.
- Her belief is tested when she learns that she and the geeks are the only ones in her class not invited to the birthday party of her nemesis (the girl she loves to hate), Charlotte.
- To make things worse, Charlotte clearly has designs on the new boy, Adam.
- Eve attempts to maintain her dignity whilst pondering the meaning of popularity and the way human beings love to be in groups rather than alone.
- Caleb is paying Jason to play with him, but Tim learns about this and eventually sorts things out.
- Unfortunately it's not before Caleb's pet frog has come to a sticky end.
- Eve doesn't tell Sylvie and Matt that she hasn't been invited to Charlotte's party.
- Instead, following the advice of her elderly neighbour, Ms Sparrow, she attempts to enjoy her own company. However her imagination torments her. She turns to her mother, Vivienne, for support.
- Meanwhile, Matt learns of Charlotte's attempts to ostracise Eve and comes up with a clever plan to sabotage the party.
- Eve's friends end up at her house instead, with a surprise guest – Adam.
Eve concludes that if you stay true to yourself, your real friends will be there for you.
