Exploring Music   with Maree Sheenan

Maree began learning piano when she was eight years old and wrote her first composition at the age of fifteen. A visit to her mother's marae, Ngāti Maniapoto in the Waikato, confirmed Maree's commitment to write and perform in te reo Māori. A move from her home town of Christchurch to Auckland saw Maree gain a recording contract and release her first singles. Her debut album, Drawn in Deep, was released in 1995. Maree works for the Kiwi Advancement Trust, running music programmes in schools.
