Online activity units have been developed to enhance the use of Creative Explorer in the classroom. Each unit focuses on an option for integrating Creative Explorer into a teaching programme.
Unit One
An introduction to Creative Explorer. Unit One is an opportunity to become familiar with the the resource by exploring different pathways and becoming acquainted with some of the artists.
Unit Two
Dance is the main focus of Unit Two. The user is able to make links with the artists including Neil Ieremia and the arts disciplines outlined in Arts in the New Zealand Curriculum.
Unit Three
The focus of Unit Three is music. It introduces the work of Maree Sheehan and provides an opportunity to increase musical literacy by exploring pathways, processes and works.
Unit Four
The main focus for Unit Four is visual art. It is an opportunity to develop arts literacy by exploring pathways, process and the work of Fiona Pardington and Robyn Kahukiwa.
Unit Five
The main focus of this unit is drama. It is an opportunity to become familiar with the work of Michael Hurst and make links with other artists on Creative Explorer by exploring ideas that are common to the artists.
Unit Six
In this unit Creative Explorer assists in learning experiences that cross over the arts disciplines so each can support or enhance the other.
Unit Seven
This unit focuses on artists in the community. The user reflects on how their lives and work are an integral part of the community.
Unit Eight
This unit is an opportunity to learn about Māori and Pacific Island artists and how their work contributes to the cultural diversity of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Unit Nine
Using ideas presented in this unit the user can apply the information, skills, and understandings of the different arts disciplines across other Essential Learning Areas.
Unit Ten
Unit ten focuses on classroom management using the Creative Explorer Resource and reflects on ways of advocating arts in education.
