Unit Four : Creative Explorer - Visual Art

6. Compose a picture

a. Refer to the Teachers book pages 10, 11, 12 for information on how to use the buttons on the screen.
Click on PORTRAIT at the top left of the screen.
Go to BACKGROUNDS. Scroll with blue arrow to see the choice available.
Drag on to the screen your choice of background.
Go to FOREGROUND. Scroll with blue arrow to see choice available. Drag onto screen your choice. Click on SMALLER or LARGER to suit your ideas.

Explore with:

  • colours in the shell for the silhouettes
  • borders
  • hide tools
  • Back or Forward

When you have finished your composition give the picture a title and PRINT. See here "Fish and chip shoppers".

b. Now explore what you can do with LIGHTING EFFECTS, located at the top right of your screen.

7. The Dictionary and Pop Ups

Go to any of the information pages in Fiona Pardington and locate DICTIONARY at the bottom of the screen. Click on DICTIONARY.

Can you find any Visual Art words you have encountered throughout this work by clicking on about three different letters of the alphabet, then scrolling down? Select a word and read the meaning in the text window.

Using POP UPS (Centre) follow a similar method by clicking on the first letter of the word you are looking for. Try these:

Frances Hodgkins
Multi media
Louvre
Alzheimer's
Neil Pardington


8. Review your own work.
