Achievement objectives – level 4

Students will:

  • use elements of dance to share personal movement vocabularies and to explore the vocabularies of others (PK)
  • explore and use choreographic devices to give form to dance ideas (DI)
  • present dance for a particular purpose and record responses to their own and others' dance (CI)
  • explore and describe how dance is used for different purposes in a variety of cultures (UC).

Learning intentions – level 4

Students will:

  • execute actions derived from traditional Indian dance movement, patterns, and gestures, framed within the elements of dance (PK)
  • create dances based on animal imagery, Bollywood-style dance, and dramatic dance ideas relating to Gandhi's life, using a range of choreographic devices, for example, repetition, accumulation, inversion, canon (DI)
  • perform and present their dance drama for specific audience/s, for example, parents and friends, other classes, another school, as part of an event like Stage Challenge (CI)
  • research and record information about Indian dance traditions, and keep a reflective journal on their work in the creation of the dance drama (UC).
