This site is intended for Heads of Department (HODs) or teachers responsible for drama in New Zealand secondary schools. Drama departments vary in size and scope from one–teacher units attached to English departments, to big departments with six or seven teachers operating as part of larger arts faculties.

Because increasing numbers of students are opting for drama as a year 9–13 subject, it is the fastest growing senior secondary subject.

This Handbook site provides information to assist all drama HODs with programme planning, assessment, productions, resources, and departmental policy and responsibilities. There are links to relevant sites including information on NCEA.

This material was collected by a team of secondary drama facilitators from drama teachers and HODs throughout New Zealand. It was collated by Christine Morgan, secondary drama advisor with Team Solutions for Tai Tokerau.
