Auckland Normal Intermediate School
A recent addition and adaptation has provided an integrated music and drama/dance suite close to the school hall.
The drama/dance room has high ceilings and vinyl flooring over a timber floor. Cross ventilation is provided by high windows with electric controls. The room has been wired for sound and computing, and sound equipment is built in. A teacher's room opens off this space and is air conditioned.
On one wall, particle board panels fold back individually to provide continuous mirrors.
The drama/dance room connects via a short corridor to the music suite. An external space has been utilised as a small covered deck suitable for group work. Both the drama/dance and music rooms open to this deck. A shared storage room opens to the deck and drama/dance room.
The music suite includes a main music room and three practice rooms. The main music room is fully wired for sound and computing, with speakers mounted in four corners and controls in a lockable cupboard.
Music practice rooms have air conditioning controlled from the main room, sealed doors, and one angled wall to improve acoustics.
