New Directions!

New Directions! is a resource that presents a range of visual arts units and students' work from New Zealand schools.

The aim of this resource is to demonstrate fresh approaches, new contexts and innovative uses of media developed by current classroom teachers with students from years 7 to 13.

The student artwork shown in this resource has been selected to further explain the teaching and learning process. While the student work shown is of a high standard, the intent of New Directions! is to share ideas among teachers rather than to display excellent student work.

For each of the following schools, there is an outline of the context for the module and the learning sequence. Each school also has a gallery featuring 'Student artwork' from the module. There is also a section, 'Curriculum strands and objectives' explaining how the module relates to The Arts in the New Zealand Curriculum.
