Art auctions were just the beginning!

In 1991, an Art Trust was formed at Macandrew Intermediate School, Dunedin, to raise money for art education at the school. The aim was to provide a funding base from which to pay artists to work with the children, rather than just raise money to buy paint and paper.
Eleven years later, Lesley Hirst – specialist art teacher at the school and a major force behind the Art Trust – looks back with amazement and delight at the overwhelming success of that idea, which has not only grown of itself but has also led to many new and exciting projects.
