The Portobello Doll Project – a Dunedin success story
by Kerry Mackay, Senior Lecturer in Art, Dunedin College of Education
The Portobello Doll Project spanned six years, and involved two educational sites and sectors – Portobello Primary School and Dunedin College of Education. It involved many child artists working alongside Dunedin artist Nicola Jackson.
The project was initially sparked by educator Kerry Mackay's personal interest in the folk art of Mexico, and her wish to include this context in her art education programme at Portobello School, where she was teaching at that time.
