Transcript of Riding to Scout Hall

One day my friend and I got out the horse saddles because we were going to go on a trek to Scout Hut. It was a windy day and the horses were a bit crazy. We got them out and put two on the horse float. (Toppa and Saffire). I was riding Toppa, a don coloured horse. And my Mum was riding Saffire, a Jet black horse. The other two horses (Ben and Katie - bay horses.), were already up there (Mt Dasha - that's the Mountain we're going to ride up). We got them in the float and they kicked a bit but soon they settled down. We got into my friends truck and her Dad drove us to the bottom of Mt Dasha. There we got the horses out of the float and saddled them up. The other horses got saddled up too. Then our guide my friends cousin who lives there came and said that we'll have to take the gear up by truck. My friend and I asked if we could come he said yes. When we got to Scout Hut we were dizzy as the road was windy and bumpy. We unloaded the truck and hoped back in and drove back down. Then we hoped on our horses and away we go. Up, round up, round we were nearly there. And I was glad it was freezing. My hands were soo cold. I was even more glad when we stopped. We hoped off our horses and unsaddled them. It was a three hour ride. We went inside and made our bed we cooked tea and it was so yummy. It had a gas stove and a fire. It was really warm after a while. We hoped into bed. I wrote some fake diarys before I went to sleep. They were kinda spooky. We went to sleep. It was a windy night and cold! In the morning, we had breakfast and went to saddle our horses for our long ride home.

Subsequent pieces of writing – Caught and My Nightmare

Caught

Transcript of Caught

My heart was beating fast.
I heard them coming closer, closer,
I heard rustling in the bushs,
Someone had been caught. I saw
the light of the torch. They were
so close I could almost feel
Their hot breath. I hope
they don't come any closer.
My legs were stiff from crouching
in the tree. They're coming,
no, no, no, go back. They look up
stop breathing.
Silent.
No use they found me.
"Found you!" the yell
I hop down.
Mabye next time they wonÕt find me.
I hope.

My Nightmare

Transcript of My Nightmare

"Goodnight" I yelled down stairs.
I fell asleep.
My nightmare began.
I was running, running.
Someone was behind me with a dagger. I screamed. He was right behind me.
I looked back.
Big Mistake!!!
He raised his dagger and SWIPE!
He hit me against the face. Blood
poured down my face but that didn't stop me running. Round a corner.
Dead End!!
I backed up against the wall.
The hairs on my neck
pickled. He's coming closer closer.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, someone
turned up. I don't know what
but it just saved my life.
It turned. "It can't be...Col!"
I woke up sweating "Who is Col?"
I said to myself.
My bed was wet from the sweat.
I felt my face. It had blood on it.
Was it real? Was it fake?

Nicola's reflection
During the personal experience unit I have improved on putting more adjectives in my story writing and starting, middle, and end.

I still need to work on putting more punctuation into my writing and more short sentences in my writing.
