Students were presented with examples of quality writing. These examples included:
Subsequent teaching focused on good beginning and endings to stories, using similes and metaphors, and using personal memorable moments as the basis for writing.
Students were taught how to complete a writing self-assessment form
based on criteria. This criteria was developed from English Online activity titled Camp Thrills, Chills and Spills.
Students self-assessed their writing based on the planning template "Fun with a friend" using a self-assessment form. The students completed subsequent writing activities
incorporating both self-assessment of writing and target setting for future writing.
