Purpose

This case study shows how the exemplars can be used to help students assess their own and others' work. By identifying important features, they can set appropriate goals in consultation with their teacher.

Context

Kamo Intermediate School, participated in the National Exemplar Trial in Term 1 of 2002. They discussed the exemplars with students in a year 7/8 composite class, with a focus on English and music.

Target or Aim

An AtoL facilitator worked with the staff to:

  • develop their understanding of exemplars;
  • support them in using exemplars;
  • encourage reflection and self-evaluation.
