The group share food
Teacher-student conversation
After they had prepared and shared their fruit kebabs, the teacher asked questions to help the students to reflect on the learning that had taken place:
Teacher:
What was something you did in your group?
Jesse:
I shared with somebody.
Thomas:
I helped Jesse cut up his fruit.
Quintin:
I cut up fruit.
Luke:
I handed fruit, and I cut up some fruit.
Caleb:
I helped Hannah cut her fruit. She couldn't do it 'cos it went the wrong way.
Crystal:
I shared bananas with Katie.
Teacher:
What new things did you learn about food today?
Crystal:
How to make kebabs.
Caleb:
Making fruit kebabs. I didn't know I could make fruit kebabs. Mum just makes chicken ones.
Luke:
How to cut fruit. I liked cutting the fruit.
Quintin:
Tasting new stuff.
Jesse:
I tasted the strawberries, and I liked them.
Thomas:
Others teached me about fruit. I didn't knowed some of the names. Now I do.
Luke:
I learned some new names.
Caleb:
That fruit is healthy for me.
Crystal:
About lots of fruits.
Teacher:
What did you feel proud about?
Luke:
Passing things. I shared with people.
Caleb:
Finishing my kebab so I could go outside and eat it.
Crystal:
Making my kebab. It was fun.And I shared my fruit.
Quintin:
I feel happy because I tasted strawberries. They are yummy, and I'm going to ask mum to buy some for me.
Thomas:
I tried those black, squashy things. I don't like them.
Jesse:
When we went outside to have our kebabs, kids were rushing out the door. I felt really proud when the teacher said we could eat them.
Teacher:
What would you do differently?
Quintin:
I would put different fruit on it. I didn't like some of my fruit, so I would change it to bananas.
Thomas:
I hated those black, squashy things, so I'm not going to eat them. Change those black things.
Jesse:
My kebab was a bit wobbly, so I would try to make it not wobbly.
Luke:
I would put chicken on mine cos I like chicken better than fruit.
Crystal:
I would change the stick. I liked my fruit. I wanted to make another one.
Caleb:
I would put vegetables on mine. It was cool trying fruit, but I like vegetables better.
Jesse:
I wouldn't change anything. I'm going to make these at home with my dad.
