Matrices list

The following matrices relate to the achievement objectives at levels 1 to 5 of Health and Physical Education in the New Zealand Curriculum. There is one matrix for each of the four strands of the curriculum.

About the progress indicators

The progress indicators have been developed to help teachers to understand and evaluate their students' progress and achievement. They link closely with the annotations on the exemplars. The progress indicators are very similar to the curriculum achievement objectives because most achievement objectives already follow a clear progression and are generic and precise. However, the indicators serve to further draw out the meaning of the achievement objectives.

The index charts indicate where there is an exemplar of work for a level or particular strand and act as a quick visual aid.

Matrix Strand A: Personal Health and Physical Development

Matrix Strand B: Movement Concepts and Motor Skills

Matrix Strand C: Relationships with Other People

Matrix Strand D: Healthy Communities and Environments
