What the work shows

The task

The students are required to compare two lengths. The teacher set the question "Will the table fit through the door?"

Images of student problem solving process

Katie's work shows that she is able to:

  • identify the attributes to be compared (the widths of the table and the doorway)
  • directly compare the two lengths (the widths of the table and the doorway)
  • use the language of comparison
  • identify that the doorway is wider than the table and record the answer "yes".
