Ann Davies’ current research highlights the success of formative assessment. Constructive comments from teachers allow students to improve their learning and educational outcomes, and also contribute to improved social outcomes for students by focusing on the relationship between teachers and students.
National assessment regional seminars – Proceedings
Proceedings from a series of seminars about national assessment tools, organised jointly by NZEI Te Riu Roa, the Ministry of Education, and the Education Department of the University of Canterbury, and held in August and October 2000. During term one of 2002, over 200 schools throughout New Zealand participated in a national

Research on the development of national exemplars: Implications for teacher education in New Zealand
An action research project on the national development of exemplars began in December 2000. The data collated by the date of this paper (August 2002) revealed information about professional development needs of teachers, as well as the emergence of New Zealand national exemplars.
