Assessment for learning

Ruth Sutton, 1995

Book summary

This book follows on from the Assessment: A Framework for Teachers, written by the author in 1991. Her central theme is the interconnection between planning and assessment in the learning process.

Some of the issues under scrutiny are:

  • How do we build assessment into our own plans for students' learning?
  • How do we keep track of specific outcomes for each student without exhausting ourselves?
  • How do we achieve fair and consistent use of given standards and assessment criteria?
  • How do we make productive use of students' own work?
