Updates

Update 1: Mac OS X

What is this Update for?

The asTTle team has released this Update to the Mac OS X version of asTTle V4 Multi-User Client and asTTle V4 Single-User.

Note: In the case of Multi-User this Update is only for the Client/Admin (not for the server)

This Update will address the following:

Who should apply this Update?

Anyone who is using either:

Multi-User asTTle V4 [Client/Admin]
or
Single-User asTTle V4

on

Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther)
or
Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).

Who do I talk to about this Update?

If you have any questions you should contact the ICT Helpdesk for Schools (0800 CALLICT).

How do I get this Update?

There are two ways that the Update can be applied.

Note: This update is for Mac workstations only. However, this document includes instructions for Windows and Linux servers in the event the update is downloaded to the school server.

Multi-User Client/Admin only

A:

Download installation files and put on the school server for installation at later date.

  • This only applies to schools with Multi-User asTTle.
  • This option will allow you to download a series of files that can then be copied to a folder in /Applications/asTTleServer.
  • This option means that the school will only have to download files once and the files will be available school wide.
  • Teachers with administrator rights then apply the Update directly from the school's server in a similar manner to the initial installation of the client (for example, http://asTTleServer:8962/update_1.html).

Download information for installation at later date.

Multi-user client/admin or single-user

B:

Download the Update from website and install now.

  • This applies to both Single-User and Multi-User asTTle.
  • This will allow a teacher with administrator rights to apply the update to their installation of asTTle immediately.
  • The Update must be downloaded on each computer.

Download information for multi-user client/admin or single-user.

C:

Obtain a CD from the Helpdesk

  • This applies to both Single-User and Multi-User asTTle.
  • The CD will contain the Update and allow you to choose either of the two methods above.
  • To obtain a disk please contact the ICT Helpdesk for Schools (0800 CALLICT) and ask for the Mac Update CD.

Download information

A:

Download installation files and put on the school server for installation at later date.

This option will allow you to download all of the files that can then be copied to the asTTleServer folder on your school's server.

A number of files are included in the package:

  • the Update
  • two web pages for the installation – one to replace the existing Multi-User install page and the second for the Update install
  • images that are displayed on the web pages and associated style-sheet for formatting.

When these files are copied to your school's server (any supported platform), teachers/administrators will be able to apply the update using the same method as the initial client installation.
