What is What Next?
What Next is an indexed database of educational resources. Teachers can use What Next in conjunction with the Assessment Tools for Teaching and Learning (available on the asTTle CD-ROM) or as a standalone resource.
The materials on the database have been classified under the same literacy and numeracy frameworks that are used in the asTTle CD-ROM. For information about these frameworks, see Literacy, Numeracy, Te Reo Māori, Pāngarau.
The materials have been indexed by curriculum levels 2 to 6, and major curriculum content areas identified by asTTle.
What Next and the asTTle CD-ROM
To get the most out of What Next, first use the asTTle CD-ROM to generate a curriculum level profile report for students.
The asTTle CD-ROM is available to New Zealand schools free of charge. The latest version (asTTle V4) of the asTTle CD-ROM can be ordered by completing the order form on the asTTle
website.

What Next as a standalone resource
Teachers can also use What Next to make their own selection of materials, based on their professional knowledge of their students' learning requirements.
Accessing material from What Next
First, select one of the curriculum areas from the right-hand side of this page.
From the table that appears, select the appropriate content category and the appropriate level (2 to 6, with further divisions of basic, proficient, and advanced in some of the tables).
This leads to a summary page with links to classroom resources and teacher resources for the selected content area and level, and a list of relevant progress indicators.
