Digistore
Digistore is the New Zealand gateway to a collection of quality digital content (digital resources and learning objects) being developed through The Le@rning Federation (TLF) initiative.

In Digistore, you can register your interest in accessing this content, search the digital warehouse (repository) containing thousands of items of digital content and get ideas on how you might incorporate this curriculum content into your existing classroom programme.

The Le@rning Federation
TLF is a collaborative initiative between the governments of Australia and New Zealand. By 2010 up to 8,000 items of digital content, covering a range of learning areas, will be available ‘free’ to all New Zealand schools and approved education providers.

This project is one of many e-learning initiatives outlined within Engaging the 21st Century Learner – An e-Learning Action Plan for New Zealand Schools, 2006–2010.

Who can use the site?
New Zealand schools (state, integrated, and private) and School Support Services staff are invited to register on Digistore to gain free access to thousands of items of digital content. Almost half of all NZ schools have already registered and the number is growing.

For further information on how to register visit, http://www.tki.org.nz/r/digistore/register_e.php

What’s available?
During phase 1 and 2 of this project (2001–2006), TLF developed thousands of items of digital content (for years 1–11) to support a range of areas including science, numeracy, literacy (for students at risk), and languages other than English.

During the next phase (2006–2010) an additional 4,000 items of digital content will be made available to NZ and Australian schools. The range of year levels has increased (1–13) and priority areas widened. For further information about this, download the Phase Three Plan (PDF 447KB) available at,

Join a focus group
New Zealand schools can become involved in testing, evaluating, and reviewing TLF content before they are available online, by becoming a member of a focus group. There are two types of focus groups – a User Focus Group (UFG) and a Teacher Focus Group (TFG).

The UFG is involved in testing prototypes of digital content with students.

The TFG works with the development teams as the content is scoped and throughout the development process.

For further information about the role and expectations of each group, please visit:

Teachers can register directly to be part of a User Focus Group by completing this online form.
