Gifted and Talented Students: Meeting Their Needs in New Zealand Schools

Getting started

Programmes for the gifted and talented can be tenuous in nature, and have been known to appear and then disappear within a very short space of time. This is often because the impetus for a new initiative, and the responsibility for its implementation, reside with a single staff member.

This situation can be avoided by making a school-wide commitment to catering for the needs of gifted and talented students.
