Gifted and Talented Students: Meeting Their Needs in New Zealand Schools

Evaluation of programmes

The assessment of higher order thinking, creativity, and the social-affective domains are notoriously complex and difficult, even for experts in the field. Sound evaluation of gifted and talented programmes is essential in terms of accountability.

Of the methods described in the following pages, some will be more relevant than others, depending on the type of programme used.

Systematic and comprehensive programme evaluations are likely to use curriculum models, such as the models described in the 'Curriculum models' section.
