e-Learning Teacher Fellowship Programme
The e-Learning Teacher Fellowship programme aims to inform e-learning in New Zealand schools and early childhood centres. Teachers are released from their teaching responsibilities to undertake learning-based research. E-fellows are provided with support in order to undertake their identified e-learning research project and to share their findings with the educational community. The intent is to foster innovation through identification and sharing of effective use of e-learning strategies and to add to the professional capability of teachers.
Outcomes are for the e-fellows to add to the research base and to share effective e-learning strategies with the wider education community. It is anticipated understandings developed will be able to be used by teachers to improve student learning.
Academic support, online communities, and pastoral care are provided through Core Education, evaluation of the project is with the University of Auckland, and Win Network have the contract for administration.

ICT Professional Development Clusters
The Ministry of Education funds clusters of schools over a three-year period to support information communication technology (ICT) professional development programmes focused on improving teaching quality and learning outcomes for all students and strengthening communities of professional practice.
The intended outcomes of the programme are:
- Increased understanding by teachers, principals, students and school communities of the educational benefits of ICT.
- Increased capability of teachers and principals to use ICT for their own professional learning and to facilitate improvements in students' learning engagement and achievement.
- Strengthened professional learning communities and increased collaboration within and across schools.
- A developing rich resource of expertise, experience, and materials in effective ICT use at a national and local level.
2007-2009 ICT Professional Development Clusters (PDF 40KB)
The Minister of Education has announced 31 new clusters of schools will join the ICT Professional Development (ICT PD) Programme in 2007. This group represents 176 schools from around the country who will plan, design and implement professional development activities for staff in the effective use of ICT in partnership with the Ministry of Education. Each cluster receives up to $360,000 funding over the next three years. Nearly 60% of New Zealand Schools have participated in the programme. For more information contact:
