Numeracy and Mathematics 2006
In 2006, the numeracy professional development projects, including Te Poutama Tau for teachers in Māori medium settings, will continue to focus on improving the teaching of mathematics by providing professional development nationally for years 1–8 teachers. Remote and rural teachers may also train online.
Further emphasis will be placed on projects to sustain the initial numeracy development through:
- regional workshops for all lead teachers
- opportunities for new appointees in numeracy project schools to participate in the full workshop programme
- further in-class support for some teachers.
