Social Sciences
Professional development in social science in 2006 is provided through the social science advisers of the School Support Services. This professional development in 2006 and beyond is largely in-depth and school-based. Advisers are working to support high quality teaching, effective classroom practice, and improving practice to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Further sources of both content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge for teachers are currently being developed in the Building Social Science Concepts series, and the planned revitalisation of the Social Studies website to become Social Studies Online late 2006. This site will be the professional hub for teachers of economics, history geography and social studies, – a place to share and access teaching resources, discuss professional issues and foster collaboration.
