Enhancing Effective Practice in Special Education
The Enhancing Effective Practice in Special Education (EEPiSE) project is part of a broader Ministry policy initiative to support and develop teachers' ability to provide learning opportunities for all learners. Specifically, the project aims to develop teacher knowledge and share ideas on how to support learners who require significant adaptation to the curriculum content.
The EEPiSE programme is one of the strategies focused on recognising the diversity of all learners, the contribution they make to the cultural enrichment of schools and communities, and the different contexts in which learning occurs.
Currently, 49 schools, that include primary, secondary, kura kaupapa Māori and special schools, are involved in this initiative which aims to gather evidence and associated data on:
- how do teachers recognise the impact of their teaching on student outcomes?
- how are improved student outcomes recognised?
The project will culminate in four regional school-led symposiums in June 2006.
