development
For 2002, early childhood professional development providers will continue to
offer national opportunities for all early childhood teachers. The professional
development teams will continue to focus on the implementation of: Te Whāriki;
the DOPs; Including Everyone: Te Reo Tātaki: Meeting Special Education
Needs in Early Childhood; and The Quality Journey: He Haerenga Whai Hua.
The Ministry intends to encourage professional development programmes that reflect
the key government policy directions. These programmes will include a focus on
quality pedagogical practice, on early literacy and mathematics, on effective
personnel management, and on kaupapa Māori in mainstream early childhood
education.
