Context
Learning about history and sport through leisure activities.
Unit aim
To explore how changes in community demographics effect sport and
leisure activities.
General overview
This unit involves the students exploring leisure activities in
two time periods. This exploration includes the types of activities
played and the nature of the community and environment at this time.
The student pay a range of these games and consider the differences
of these games in relation to the effect they have on their well
being.
Key area(s) of learning
Sport
Studies – Students will come to understand environmental
factors that influence their sport and leisure choices and Mental
Health - 7th bullet.
Underlying concepts
This unit will enable students to:
develop an understanding of how the environment in which they
live affects their personal well-being and that of society (health
promotion);
identify and reflect on factors that influence their choices
and behaviours related to physical activity (socio-ecological
perspective); and
develop an understanding of how sport and leisure contributes
to their hauora.
