From 25 August to 3 September some 2000 young New Zealanders gather in Wellington for a series of large-scale arts events. Youth Arts 2000 comprises 60 performances, including the national finals of several secondary school competitions and festivals.

Below we present the full programme, with links to relevant Internet sites. See Te Kete Ipurangi's Arts Community pages for more arts resources. For more information on the festival, see the contact details. TKI thanks the festival organisers for permission to reproduce this programme.

Choral Improvisation Workshop with Bob Chilcott

    Chilcott, one of Britain's most popular and sought-after choral composers and conductors, a former member of the King's Singers and since 1997 a full-time composer and choral motivator, will work with young choral singers.

The Big Sing National Finale 2000

    Twenty choirs have been selected from nine regions to attend the National.
