Morph Magic

This ICT starter idea written by teachers, for teachers, describes how students could use a morphing program to show a variety of processes, for instance, plants growing, the history of car styles, or generations of a family.

Prerequisites

  • Ability to download a free morphing program
  • Photos at various stages of development in digital form (digital camera or scanned images)
  • Time should be allowed for reading the introduction/tutorial to this simple program

Resources

Possible context

  • Take photos of a plant at various growth stages
  • Track the change in design of cars since their creation
  • Look at similar characteristics through generations, for example, morph grandmother, mother, and granddaughter

Suggested process

  1. Take photos or select photos that represent the change process at various stages.
  2. Read the introduction tutorial and place the dots around the two pictures to be morphed together.
  3. Ensure that the dots are frequent enough to create a smooth transition.
