Welcome to Software for Learning

This area of Te Kete Ipurangi has been developed to inform and support teachers and educators when identifying and integrating software as part of a rich learning environment.

Find out about a range of quality software available for use in New Zealand educational settings at reduced prices. The software has been reviewed by teachers and identified as supporting New Zealand schools and early childhood programmes.

To help you choose software for learning, use the Search function, or view lists of software by title or by publisher to access overviews of the software and examples of learning experiences that have integrated software, as well as pricing and licensing details.

You can also view Snapshots of learning that contain screen shots showing how software (freeware and non-freeware) has been used in learning sessions.

Read this discussion about using software and digital media for learning in primary and secondary classrooms. The blog is the creation of Sarah Jones from the New Zealand’s Ministry of Education’s e-learning team - she is interested in how young people use technology and how this use can be applied in the classroom.
