Talk with your child about what's in the book:
- the pictures – photos and drawings
- the words and ideas in the print and pictures
- the printed words and letters.
Talking about what's in the book helps your child to understand it.
Talk about your own knowledge and experiences, and make links between these and what's in the book.
Talk and read using rich, full language. Use your home language often. If you wish, use English too.
