NZMaths

This website focuses on the teaching and learning of mathematics in New Zealand schools. Units of work and lesson plans take a problem-solving approach and are contained in sections based on the statistics, measurement, algebra, and geometry strands of the New Zealand mathematics curriculum. These cover levels 1–4 and a general problem-solving section provides lessons covering levels 1–6, with copymasters of problems in both English and Māori. Background notes and guidelines for teachers are included with units of work.

This handbook, published in 1997 by Learning Media, is designed to help teachers develop their teaching programmes, and is based on Mathematics in the New Zealand Curriculum.



Development Band Mathematics

This handbook published by Learning Media, is designed to provide guidance and support for teachers as they implement the development band outlined in Mathematics in the New Zealand Curriculum.



Problem Solving CD-ROM

This publication, available from Learning Media, consists of a small booklet and a CD-ROM. The CD-ROM contains lessons and units of work on problem solving. The accompanying booklet gives hints and strategies on how to implement the units, which cover levels 1 to 4 of the curriculum.


Connected

Connected is a series designed to show mathematics, science, and technology in the context of students' everyday lives and to provide starting points for further investigations.


Maths Stuff on wickED

The website wickED, which is part of the Digital Opportunities initiative, has a Maths Stuff section. Year 7 to 11 students can use the problem-solving forum, follow links to other maths websites, and try their hand at maths interactives.
