Online format

The School Journal teachers' notes for Parts 1-4 are available in an online format only. You can download and print out copies of these notes from this website. Teachers' notes for Part 1 and 2 Journals published prior to 2008 can be found in the archive section.

Teachers' notes are now being developed for selected School Journal items only.

Teaching purpose

Each set of teachers' notes is developed around teaching purposes. One of the main teaching purposes is to support students in developing their comprehension strategies.

At present, we have notes for the following comprehension strategies. Click on the strategy to go directly to the notes available for that strategy.

• Making connections
• Visualising

Notes for further comprehension strategies will be added as they are developed, once a year, in July.

Teachers need to use assessment data to identify the learning needs of their students. The School Journal teachers' notes will continue to provide models of effective teacher practice that teachers can adapt to meet these needs, using either the selected texts or other reading materials.
