Parts 3–4
New online format
The new School Journal teachers’ notes for Parts 3 and 4 follow a similar format to those for Parts 1 and 2, but they are only available online. However, you can still download and print out copies of these notes from this website.
The following provides a brief description how the teachers’ notes are now being developed with their focus on a teaching purpose. Your feedback about these notes is welcome.
Phases of development
The notes are being developed in three phases:
- Phase 1
- The development of an initial set of notes.
- Phase 2
-
The gathering and analysis of feedback on the notes.
The development of recommendations for:
- the format and content of the notes
- links to further information
- online searches
- Phase 3
- The ongoing development of further sets of notes.
This initial set of online notes completes phase 1.
Teaching purpose
Each set of teachers’ notes will now be developed around a particular teaching purpose.
This first set of notes supports the purpose of teaching inferring. The focus on purpose highlights the need for teachers to use assessment data to identify the learning needs of their students.
The School Journal teachers’ notes will continue to provide models of effective teacher practice that teachers can adapt to meet the needs of their students, using either the selected texts or other reading materials.
